    DJ Lighting Equipment

One of the biggest things that new DJs worry about is what kind of lighting to buy. I guess this is because they know about making music and ambience, but beyond that, light is a whole other category and they want to be sure that whatever lighting is used, it compliments their musical creations.

So the sole purpose of lighting is to add a little bit of atmosphere to the local venue. Lighting doesn't make a good show or a good DJ, and it doesn't entertain people or play music. What it does do, however, is weave the effect of your music into a more cohesive presentation.

Again, the main point, as a DJ, is that your primary concern is the music and all of the related sound equipment. Though you may be tempted along the way to venture into all kinds of lighting experiments, this should only be done once every aspect of the sound is nailed down.

Spend your cash on your music and sound equipment first and above all else. Then, as things expand, you will have more money, as well as experience with the types of lighting that are available, to put toward a more advanced lighting system.

In fact, until you've seen the different basic DJ lighting pieces in action, you will have a hard time knowing what would make the most sense to buy. No matter how lengthy the description on the flashy website is, you won't know exactly how the thing will look until you see one in action.

You should become more familiar with the types of lighting equipment and effects that are used at DJ and theatrical venues and programs. SO go to shows! And when you play, be sure to experiment with any and all equipment that you are allowed to utilize.

Over time you will become familiar with DJ and stage lighting and effects. At this point you'll not only have more money (assuming you've been putting a bit aside) as well as more expertise about how to best spend your hard earned money to improve your DJ lighting set up.

When you're ready for more input, direction or brainstorming ideas, you should try to locate a relevant online community of some kind. There are tons of DJ community websites, but it's up to you to find the one that's most relevant to the type of experience that you're looking for.

In any case, find an online community where you can talk with other audiophiles and DJ types. This is the all-time best way to get to know more about your trade; by talking with those that have already been doing it. You'll be able to ask questions, as well as find inspiring info here and there. And over time you'll develop meaningful relationships that can only aid in your endeavors along the way.

When you think you've located an online community that will assist your DJ aspirations, just start leaving some 'Hi, I'm so-and-so and I'm into…" kinds of posts and see what happens. Before you know it you'll have all kinds of messages in your inbox, so get goin!
