    Decorating With Hurricane Lamps

Hurricane lamps have been popular among collectors for years but recently they've gained a great deal of popularity in home décor. Why not try decorating with hurricane lamps?

One of the biggest advantageous to this style of lamp is the flexibility. There are many different styles, shapes, colors, and themes to choose from. You can also choose from antique or vintage styles right to modern trendy lamps. Your room, your choice, you pick!

Not only will they look great throughout your home, but when the power goes out you'll be laughing. As your neighbors sweat it out in the dark you'll have a cozy, relaxing, atmosphere like your forefathers would have enjoyed.

Valuable antique hurricane lamps dating to around the 1890s were very popular in a variety of colored glass styles including pressed glass, early American pattern glass, and blown glass. Hurricane night lights were marketed during the Victorian era although few of these were ever used. They still make a great addition to a collection and they sure are cute in a bathroom.

    1. Centerpiece They make a great centerpiece anytime of year. You can keep them simple and classic or dress them up a little with some greenery around the base and some fresh or silk flowers. One of my favorite looks is surrounded by shells or polished stones. It's very Feng Shui. 2. Christmas Christmas time is the perfect time to go crazy with your lamps. Place them on the table, on the mantle, on the coffee table, in the bathroom, and wherever else you can find a suitable spot. Place a Christmas plate underneath, surround with some nuts, oranges, or even pine branches. Add some sparkles and your set. 3. Hurricane Wall Sconces These look great on a mantle place wall or on each side of a focal mirror. There are many interesting styles available but the ones from the arts and crafts era have got to be the neatest. 4. Weddings Hurricane lamps look sensational on wedding tables. They also work well to define walkways or isles. Start with a plate, the same as your china is perfect. Layer two plates one a little smaller on top. You can use a contrasting plate or the same one just smaller. Add your white pillar candle to the plate now add your glass hurricane shade. 5. Outside Décor There's nothing that will set the mood quite as nicely as a few hurricane lamps out on the patio deck. Soft gentle fluttering flames will certainly relax your guests and the hurricane shades will not only protect the flame from the elements it will add charm to your lighting. 6. Table These lamps look gorgeous placed on any table - coffee tables, end tables, night tables, corner tables - it doesn't matter. They also look great in any room. Choose styles and colors that are complimentary to your room and don't forget to get creative. This is one style of lamp that lets you easily show your creative elements.

If you haven't tried decorating with hurricane lamps there's no better time then now. A quick search online and you'll quickly discover some great prices and terrific choices. So what are you waiting for?
