Table lamps, floor lamps, Torchieres, and accent lamps are all lighting choices we are all familiar with and commonly use but how about using miniature lamps to create that special mood?
Every now and then it's nice to have a nice quiet romantic evening with your partner and there's no easier way to transform a room than with miniature lamps.
Get yourself a dozen miniature oil lamps, fill them with fragrant oil. Rose or lavender are both great choices. Place the lamps around the room in a circle; toss some pillows on the floor, light the lamps and your mood is set. Chocolate and strawberries anyone?
Miniature lamps are also a great way to create a relaxing atmosphere. Remember that old slogan "Calgon take me away?" Why not create that atmosphere for your next bath?
Take four lamps and place them on the corners of your bathtub. No need for fragrant oils as your tub should be full of fragrant mineral salts. Fill your tub, turn off the lights and get ready to relax.
If you have a country kitchen you can add the finishing touches with a miniature lamp or even a couple. They look great on high shelves, the table, placed on a corner table, or in a host of other spaces depending on the layout of your kitchen. French Provincial lamps are the perfect choice!
Mini lamps are easily available online where you'll find great choices and fantastic pricing. You can choose from hundreds of different styles. Both oil and electric are available although oil is my favorite choice for setting a mood. There's nothing like the flicker of a flame!
Candles can make great mood setters. But they can be messy with wax drippings and because of the open flame they also can be a fire hazard. And pretty candles aren't cheap.
Miniature oil lamps provide you with that wonderful flame flicker, and they allow you the option of choosing from so many body styles. You can also have a choice of fragrances that can set the mood. And the chimney reduces the risk of fire, they aren't messy, and they are affordable.
Choose from antique, traditional, or modern lamps depending on your décor. Antique lamps are fabulous! There are some wonderful styles and body shapes and so many glass choices - amber, amethyst, cobalt, and ruby glass. Wow! And if you've never looked at any of the antique body styles do - they are decadent with lines and styles that no modern lamp offers.
Then of course there are the vintage lamps that can be a great deal of fun. Those retro lamps from the 1960s and 1970s are just downright fun! And they are a perfect choice for that trendy room, or to create a focal point. Picture polka dots, vibrant stripes, lemon yellows, lime green and scarlet reds. Sounds almost like today's colors doesn't it?
Modern lamps are definitely worth looking at too! Here you'll get a mix of trendy, traditional, and some reproduction pieces too. Also have a look at the Art Deco, Victorian, French Country, and Gone With The Wind lamps.
